Jujuy Cathedral Basilica to undergo integral restoration with CONICET support

The Government of Jujuy and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) have signed a technical assistance agreement to develop an executive project for the integral restoration and structural reinforcement of the Jujuy Basilica Cathedral. The project follows damage sustained by the historic building.

The agreement establishes collaboration between CONICET, through the Laboratory of Andean Architectures and Earth Construction (LAAYCT), and the Provincial Directorate of Architecture of Jujuy. Governor Carlos Sadir emphasized the historical importance of the cathedral for both the province and the country, noting that the restoration is a commitment to the people of Jujuy. Raúl Becchio, director of the Salta-Jujuy Scientific and Technological Center of CONICET, stated that the agreement continues work that began years ago, which previously included diagnostic tasks and contingency planning.
