Jujuy educators protest academic closures and labor rights losses

Educators and unions in Jujuy, Argentina, are protesting against the potential closure of academic programs and the loss of labor rights. In Castelli, teachers at the IES René Favaloro have denounced the provincial government's decision to place staff in “availability” status due to the imminent closure of teaching degrees. They report that the Economics teaching program has already been closed and warn that permanent reallocations for tenured staff have not been resolved. Furthermore, teachers claim they are at risk of losing their “unfavorable zone” bonuses.

Simultaneously, the ADIUNJu union has expressed strong opposition to rumors regarding the closure of the Bachelor's degree in Social Work at the Tilcara academic expansion site of the National University of Jujuy (UNJu). The union is demanding official information and formal dialogue to protect teaching and non-teaching jobs, as well as the right to public university education in the Quebrada and Puna regions.
