Jujuy expands sports profile with international events and local initiatives

The province of Jujuy is strengthening its position as a destination for major sporting events through a combination of international competitions and local public policies. Confirmed international events include the Iron Man 5150 triathlon, which will connect the La Ciénaga dam with the provincial capital, and the UTMB trail running championship scheduled for April.

To support these high-level events, the provincial government is implementing grassroots programs such as the Juegos Forja, Copa Jujuy, and the TTT Program (Triathlon-Trail-Trekking). Sports Secretary Luis Calvetti noted that attracting global events must be accompanied by concrete public policies on the ground.

In local sports news, the UTEDYC Jujuy union team successfully qualified for a national football tournament after competing in Zone 6 in Huerta Grande. The team secured first place in their group following victories against Santiago del Estero (2-0) and Tucumán (2-1).
