Secretaría de Salud issues autumn health precautions

The Secretaría de Salud has issued recommendations to prevent respiratory diseases and allergies during the autumn season. Due to temperature changes and environmental factors, authorities advise reinforcing preventive measures at home.

Key recommendations include frequent hand washing with soap or using alcohol gel, avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and covering coughs or sneezes with the inner forearm. To reduce contagion risks, officials suggest avoiding close contact with symptomatic individuals, not sharing personal items like glasses or cutlery, and cleaning common surfaces regularly.

Regarding allergies, the subdirector of Epidemiology, Gumaro Barrios, emphasized the importance of identifying triggers, reducing dust accumulation in homes, and cleaning bedding and curtains frequently. It is also advised to control humidity and limit exposure to pollen, tobacco smoke, wood smoke, aerosols, and intense perfumes. Additionally, maintaining updated vaccination schedules is considered essential for the autumn-winter season.
