Jujuy Justicialist Party internal primary dispute escalates as list excluded

The Jujuy branch of Argentina's Justicialist Party (PJ) has been thrown into turmoil after the party's electoral board issued Resolution No. 08/2026, which disqualified the List 2 "Celeste y Blanca" and approved List 10 "Generación Valiente" for the internal primaries scheduled for 30 August.

Provincial deputy Rubén Armando Rivarola denounced the national party intervenors, accusing them of colluding with Senator Carolina Moisés to favor her faction. Rivarola's legal team filed an appeal with federal electoral judge Esteban Hansen, seeking to overturn the resolution within a 24‑hour deadline, and announced criminal complaints alleging forged signatures on rival lists.

Critics argue that the board's strict application of formal requirements undermines party participation and democratic norms, warning that the exclusion could disenfranchise supporters and distort the internal selection process.
