Jujuy Legislature passes new pharmaceutical regulation law

The Legislature of Jujuy has passed a new law regulating pharmaceutical activity and the authorization of pharmaceutical establishments, replacing legislation that had been in place since 1969. The new law, sanctioned as No. 6519, establishes a modern regulatory framework for professional practice, rights, and obligations within the sector.

Key provisions of the law include the recognition of medicine as a social good, ensuring access to safe and quality medications, and strengthening the oversight role of the Ministry of Health through its Pharmacy Department. The legislation also mandates that the commercialization of medicines must occur exclusively in authorized establishments.

In addition to the pharmaceutical law, the Legislature established October 29 as the Provincial Day of Care and Support. The pharmaceutical updates were developed over nearly two years with input from various legislative blocs and industry specialists to align with current public health needs.
