Jujuy Mayor meets Japanese Deputy Chief of Mission
Raúl “Chuli” Jorge, the Mayor of San Salvador de Jujuy, met with Kenji Maehigashi, the Deputy Chief of the Embassy of Japan in Argentina, to strengthen cultural, social, and economic ties between Japan and the Jujuy province.
The visit coincides with the 140th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to Argentina. The agenda includes the Matsuri “Vivir Japón en Jujuy” festival, cultural exhibitions, institutional meetings, and a forum focused on economic exchange opportunities between Jujuy and Japan.
Mayor Jorge emphasized the importance of deepening relations with Japan, noting the country’s technological and cultural development and its historical integration into Argentina through immigration. He also highlighted ongoing cultural exchanges, including international painting competitions involving local institutions.
