Jujuy municipalities expand veterinary and zoonosis services
Municipalities in the Jujuy province of Argentina are expanding veterinary and public health services through their respective Zoonosis directorates.
In San Pedro de Jujuy, new offices for the Directorate of Health, Pests, and Zoonosis have been inaugurated in the Las Maderas neighborhood. The facility includes modern installations and a model operating room designed to strengthen prevention and veterinary care. The center provides free sterilization for dogs and cats to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent animal overpopulation. Veterinarian Enzo Flores Sandoval noted that these services serve as a vital public health tool, offering an alternative to private clinics where costs can be prohibitive for many families.
In San Salvador de Jujuy, the Zoonosis Directorate is continuing its mobile surgical program and organizing an Animal Welfare Operation. The schedule includes various neighborhood visits for sterilization services, deworming, vaccination, and pet registration. Additionally, an information stand will be available to provide guidance and receive reports regarding animal cruelty.
