Jujuy tourism hits record high with $52 billion peso economic impact

The province of Jujuy, Argentina, recorded its best August in recent years, driven by significant growth in tourism and major sporting events. According to the Observatory, the province saw 139,585 tourists and a hotel occupancy rate of 63.56%, surpassing figures from both 2024 and 2025.

This tourism surge resulted in an economic impact of over $52 billion pesos. The average daily expenditure per person rose to $148,860, representing a 49.6% increase from the previous year. Growth was observed across all four major tourist regions, including the Valles and Quebrada.

Additionally, the international rugby test match between Los Pumas and the Australian Wallabies at the 23 de Agosto stadium contributed to the province's economic and promotional momentum. The event attracted over 16,000 tourists during the weekend and helped position Jujuy as a viable venue for international sporting events.
