Jujuy: Woman dies after vehicle falls 80 meters in mountain accident

A 58-year-old woman from Buenos Aires died following a vehicle accident in Jujuy, Argentina. The incident occurred on Provincial Route 52 at kilometer 30, along the Cuesta de Lipán, a mountain corridor connecting the Quebrada de Humahuaca with the Puna region.

For reasons currently under investigation, the driver of a Toyota SW4 4x4 lost control of the vehicle and fell approximately 80 meters down a steep precipice. The impact was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the female passenger.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the Purmamarca police, SAME rescuers, and volunteer firefighters from Maimará, conducted a multi-hour operation to reach the site. The four other occupants of the vehicle survived with multiple traumas and were transported to the Hospital Pablo Soria in Jujuy capital for urgent medical treatment.
