Jules Verne’s classic revisited through cruise and multimedia book
Various entities are revisiting Jules Verne’s classic “Around the World in 80 Days” through modern, immersive experiences.
Oceania Cruises has announced a 180-day “Around the World” voyage aboard the Oceania Aurelia. Departing from Miami in January 2028, the journey will span six continents. The ship, which accommodates fewer than 500 guests, offers various itinerary segments ranging from ten to nineteen days for travelers seeking shorter regional immersions.
In the literary sector, Éditions Incarnatis is launching an interactive version of the novel in 2026. Supported by the Société Jules Verne, the project uses QR codes to integrate digital media such as original music, videos, illustrations, and virtual reality elements. The edition features audio scenes voiced by professional dubbing actors to enhance the reading experience and combat declining reading rates among younger demographics.
