Julia Bergmann credits Gabi Guimarães' absence for team growth

Julia Bergmann stated that the absence of Gabi Guimarães during the 2026 season has facilitated the growth of new talents within the Brazilian National Volleyball Team. Following Brazil's victory over Peru in the South American Women's Volleyball Championship, Bergmann noted that she and Ana Cristina had to assume greater responsibilities on the court.

Gabi Guimarães was unable to participate in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) due to injury, despite initially reporting to the team in May. While her absence was significant, Bergmann highlighted that the challenges faced during the VNL helped accelerate the tactical evolution of younger players, who played key roles in leading the team to the final against Turkey.

With the recent win against Peru, Brazil maintains its lead in the South American Championship, seeking its 24th title. The winner of the tournament will also secure a direct qualification spot for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
