Julia Child’s former Cambridge home hits market for $6.47M

The former Cambridge, Massachusetts, residence of legendary chef and television host Julia Child has been listed for sale at approximately $6.47 million. Located near Harvard Square, the 1889 garden-style home served as the residence for Child and her husband, Paul, for 40 years.

While Child filmed several programs, such as ‘Baking with Julia’, at the property, she previously donated her original kitchen to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The current residence has since been updated, featuring a transformed kitchen with new cabinetry and modern amenities. The property includes six bedrooms, over 6,300 square feet of living space, and landscaped gardens that still contain roses planted by Child.

Child lived in the home until 2001, when she moved to California. The property was previously owned by Smith College after Child donated her house and office to the institution.
