Julia Child’s former Cambridge home sells for $6.52 million

The longtime Cambridge, Massachusetts, residence of legendary chef Julia Child has sold for $6.52 million. The sale occurred just weeks after the property was listed in September for $6.475 million, ultimately closing $50,000 above the asking price.

The historic six-bedroom Colonial, located at 103 Irving Street, dates back to 1889 and covers approximately 6,321 square feet. Child and her husband, Paul, lived in the home for decades starting in the early 1960s, during which time she became a prominent television figure through her show, “The French Chef.”

While the house has since undergone major renovations, Child’s original kitchen, known for its teal cabinetry and pegboard walls, was donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and remains on display there. The property was previously owned by Harvard Law School professor Michael Klarman and his wife, Lisa Landsverk, who purchased it in 2009.
