Julia Navarro discusses new novel ‘Una familia moderna’
Writer Julia Navarro discusses her latest novel, ‘Una familia moderna’ (Plaza & Janés), which is scheduled for release in Spanish bookstores on September 15. The book is expected to be published in the United States and Latin America later this autumn.
Navarro describes the work as her most contemporary to date, focusing on themes of identity and the rapid social, political, and technological changes in the modern world. The narrative follows three generations of a family living in the same house, struggling with communication and understanding. Through the character of Martha, a 70-year-old retired ballet dancer, the novel addresses the courage to speak openly in a society Navarro suggests is often hindered by a fear of expressing non-conformist views.
