Julia Roberts to return to Broadway in 2027

Julia Roberts is set to return to Broadway in the spring of 2027, marking her first appearance on New York stages in two decades. She will join the cast of 'Small Mouth Sounds', a play by Bess Wohl directed by Joe Mantello.

The production is scheduled to begin previews on February 18, 2027, at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, with an official opening on March 18. The ensemble cast includes Martin Freeman, Greta Lee, Sarah Paulson, Isaac Powell, and Paul Rudd. The play follows six strangers at a silent retreat, utilizing limited dialogue to drive the narrative through character actions.

For Roberts, the production serves as a reunion with Paul Rudd; the two previously worked together in the 2006 production 'Three Days of Rain'. Additionally, the play will mark the Broadway debut for Martin Freeman.
