Juliaca Mayor denies filming ban in Plaza de Armas
Óscar Cáceres Rodríguez, the mayor of San Román, has denied claims that filming is prohibited in the Plaza de Armas of Juliaca. Following reports of security personnel removing a citizen from the area, the mayor clarified that filming is “completely free” and acknowledged that the security staff likely committed an error. He stated he would coordinate with the Citizen Security Management to prevent future incidents.
The mayor explained that current restrictions in the plaza are temporary and intended to protect newly installed green areas and the fountain system. Specifically, he noted that during wedding ceremonies, the use of confetti and alcohol consumption has led to debris obstructing the fountain's water controls.
Regarding urban infrastructure, Cáceres Rodríguez announced that roadwork on Calixto Aréstegui, Cusco, and Jorge Chávez streets is expected to be completed by September 5. Additionally, work is set to resume on Moquegua street, with Seda Juliaca covering the costs for pipe replacements. The municipality is also seeking to address traffic issues caused by mototaxis and is planning meetings with regional and national authorities regarding local educational and legal matters.
