Juliaca residents demand water restoration after year-long outage
More than one thousand families in the La Florida annex of Juliaca have been without potable water and sewage services for approximately one year. Residents report that the service disruption was caused by a municipal street paving project between August and October of last year, which destroyed the local piping connections.
Affected residents are demanding that Sedajuliaca and the local municipality repair the damaged infrastructure. The community has expressed frustration over continuing to receive bills for services they are not receiving, with some residents noting they have paid significant amounts despite the lack of water. Currently, families must purchase bottled water or transport it by vehicle to meet their basic needs, as they can no longer cook or wash clothes in their homes.
