Juliaca residents report illegal operation of closed nightlife venues
Residents in the Puno exit sector of Juliaca are reporting that between seven and eight nightlife establishments continue to operate despite municipal orders for their closure. The businesses are concentrated on Patricio Quispe and José Domingo Choquehuanca streets.
Local community members have raised concerns regarding increased insecurity, physical altercations, and bad odors associated with these venues. One specific establishment, which had been ordered to close following the April murder of Wilfredo Velarde, is allegedly bypassing authorities by using alternative entrances to remain operational.
In addition to the ongoing business activity, residents have reported potential robberies involving mototaxistas. The community is calling for coordinated, permanent operations involving the municipality, the police, and the prosecutor's office to enforce legal regulations and ensure public safety.
