Juliaca traffic collision leaves two dead

A collision between a combi from the Sur Andino company and a Mercedes mototaxi resulted in two deaths in Juliaca. The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Mártires del 4 de Noviembre and Marañón avenues.

One passenger of the mototaxi died instantly at the scene, while the driver, Dionisio Grande Belizario, died while being transported to the hospital. Witnesses suggested the combi may have been traveling at excessive speed and that traffic lights in the area were not being respected.

Local authorities are investigating the causes of the crash. Witnesses also expressed frustration regarding the response time of the National Police of Peru, noting the proximity of the Santa Rosa police station to the site of the incident.
