Julian Floss cast in Globo novela 'Paraíso Perdido' draws union protest

Juliano Floss, a former BBB26 contestant, has been approved to play Heitor in Globo's Globoplay series "Paraíso Perdido," a 40‑episode drama set in contemporary Rio de Janeiro and written by George Moura and Sérgio Goldenberg with inspiration from Nelson Rodrigues.

The casting sparked criticism from the Rio de Janeiro Artists and Technicians Union (Sated‑RJ). Union president Hugo Gross said the move favors digital influencers over unemployed actors and called for greater opportunities for diverse talent, including gay, trans, peripheral, and marginalised performers.

The controversy highlights tensions between Brazil’s traditional TV industry and the growing influence of social‑media personalities in mainstream media productions.
