Julian Lemos declares support for Lula amid 2026 elections

In the context of the 2026 election cycle in Brazil, former federal deputy Julian Lemos (PP-PB) has declared his support for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Lemos, a former ally of Jair Bolsonaro who previously coordinated Bolsonaro's campaign in the Northeast, stated that his political break from Bolsonarismo stemmed from discomfort with political polarization and intolerance.

Lemos, who is running for a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for Paraíba, used social media to urge former Bolsonaro supporters to “change course.” His individual declaration of support does not reflect a change in the official position of his party, the Progressistas (PP).

Separately, candidate for district deputy Tabanez participated in a podcast interview to discuss his public trajectory and legislative proposals for the Federal District. He highlighted initiatives such as ‘Visão Para Todos’ and ‘Abrindo Horizontes’ as part of his platform for the upcoming elections.
