Julian Wachner sentenced for child sex abuse material possession

Former conductor Julian Wachner has been sentenced to nearly six years of probation following a guilty plea in Indiana's Marion Superior Court. Wachner pleaded guilty to five counts of possession of child sex abuse material and one count of cocaine possession.

According to charging documents, Wachner admitted to using cryptocurrency hundreds of times to purchase videos of children ranging in age from approximately 1 to 16 years old. He is required to register as a sex offender. At the time of his arrest in August 2025, Wachner had been working as a math teacher at an Indianapolis charter school, where he was subsequently fired.
