Julianne Moore to star in new play ‘Faydra’ Off-Broadway

Academy Award winner Julianne Moore is set to star in the world premiere of ‘Faydra’, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl. The production will be staged Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club.

A modern reimagining of the Ancient Greek myth of Phaedra, the play follows the character Faydra after Aphrodite strikes her with an arrow of love, leading to an all-devouring lust for her soon-to-be stepson. The story explores the tension between logic and desire.

Directed by Les Waters, the production is scheduled to begin previews on February 2, 2027, with an official opening on February 25. This marks Waters’ return to the Manhattan Theatre Club after three decades. Additional casting for the production will be announced at a later date.
