Julie Rose completes cycling challenge after cancer clinical trial success
Julie Rose, a 49-year-old resident of Bridgwater, Somerset, is undertaking a 186-mile cycling challenge to celebrate her recovery from medullary thyroid cancer. After being diagnosed in 2020, Rose was accepted into a clinical trial at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Following six months of the new treatment, Rose reported a 60% reduction in her tumors. She noted that some tumors had disappeared completely and that the medication had not caused significant adverse side effects. The clinical trial was highly selective, with only approximately nine or ten available spots in the United Kingdom at the time of her enrollment.
