Morena designates 10 state coordinators for 2027 elections

Morena has announced the appointment of 10 state coordinators for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty, a key step in the party's internal process for the 2027 gubernatorial elections. Notable appointments include Julieta Ramírez Padilla in Baja California, Eugenio 'Gino' Segura in Quintana Roo, Verónica Díaz Robles in Zacatecas, Carlos Torres Piña in Michoacán, and Beatriz Mojica in Guerrero.

The selection process, based on internal surveys and mirror studies, has faced significant internal friction. In Zacatecas, the appointment of Verónica Díaz Robles led to protests and accusations of fraud, with critics alleging the influence of Governor David Monreal. In Guerrero, the designation of Beatriz Mojica was met with public disagreement from former aspirant Abelina López. In Quintana Roo, the announcement of Segura also drew some criticism.

While Morena maintains that the process was democratic and based on survey results, the Labor Party (PT) has distanced itself from several designations, particularly in Baja California, and plans to present its own candidates. Additionally, the political party Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) has filed a complaint with the National Electoral Institute (INE), alleging that the public promotion of these coordinators may constitute premature campaigning.
