Julián Hincapié, community communicator, found dead in Anorí
The body of Julián Hincapié, a 23-year-old community communicator and human rights defender, was found in a rural area of Anorí, Antioquia, on October 2. Hincapié had been missing since September 10.
Reports indicate that Hincapié was last seen leaving his home in the La Playa neighborhood accompanied by a neighbor. While the companion returned, Hincapié did not. The body was discovered in the La Chinca sector near the urban center of the municipality.
The Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP) and the Ombudsman's Office (Defensoría del Pueblo) have called for an exhaustive investigation by the Attorney General's Office and the Police. Authorities are urged to determine the causes of death and investigate whether the killing was linked to his work as a community communicator and his involvement in regional rights defense processes.
