Julián Álvarez: Atlético Madrid rejects Barcelona bid, eyes Arsenal move
Atlético Madrid has officially rejected Barcelona’s interest in striker Julián Álvarez, stating there is a “0% chance” of a sale to the Catalan club. While Álvarez reportedly expressed a desire to join Barcelona, Atlético remains open to a transfer to Arsenal. The Spanish club has reportedly requested a fee of 150 million euros for the Argentine international, and discussions between Atlético and Arsenal have been described as positive.
Separately, Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed that the club’s pursuit of Álvarez was not their only priority during the summer transfer window. Laporta disclosed that Barcelona attempted to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez “at all costs.” However, the move failed after Laporta’s direct communication with Inter president Beppe Marotta, who indicated that Martínez was not for sale. Following these failed pursuits, Barcelona ultimately signed Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for 10 million euros on Deadline Day.
