Julian Alvarez linked to Arsenal move amid Atletico Madrid transfer speculation

Arsenal is reportedly emerging as a frontrunner to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, following reports that the Argentine player has changed his mind about a move to the Premier League. Alvarez, who has reportedly parted ways with his agent Fernando Hidalgo due to dissatisfaction with previous transfer negotiations, is said to be considering a move to Mikel Arteta’s side as early as January.

While Atletico Madrid previously maintained a high release clause, some reports suggest a potential transfer fee could be in the region of €120 million. If the deal proceeds, Arsenal may look to offload Viktor Gyokeres, who has reportedly been assigned a £64 million asking price amid uncertainty regarding his playing time.

Amidst the transfer speculation, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has publicly defended Alvarez’s performance, emphasizing his value as a team player and his ability to contribute to build-up play, despite a lack of recent goals for the club.
