Julián Quiñones explains choice to represent Mexico over Colombia

Footballer Julián Quiñones has detailed his decision to represent the Mexican national team over his birth country, Colombia. The Al Qadsiah striker stated that his choice was driven by the professional and personal life he built in Mexico since arriving as a teenager.

Quiñones noted that he developed an “unbreakable love” for Mexico, where his family resides and where he established his career through clubs such as Tigres, Atlas, and Club América. He revealed that when Colombian coach Néstor Lorenzo extended an invitation to play for the Colombian national team, he did not even open the letter.

His decision has coincided with significant career milestones, including being a top scorer at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with four goals and earning a nomination for the Ballon d'Or. He expressed deep gratitude to Mexico, stating that he owes his development as a person to the country.
