Mexico national team: Rafael Márquez announces first squad

Rafael Márquez has announced his first 30-player squad for the Mexico national football team as he begins his tenure as head coach. The roster is set for a series of friendly matches during the September and October 2026 FIFA dates against Colombia, Peru, the United States, and Chile.

Notable inclusions in the call-up include the return of Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano and Germán Berterame, alongside goalkeeper Alex Padilla. The squad also features several young talents and players from the Chivas club, which provides the largest contingent of players for this period.

Several key players are absent from the list. Raúl Jiménez and Julián Quiñones are out due to injuries, while Edson Álvarez is not included following a lack of playing time with West Ham. The team's upcoming schedule includes matches in Baltimore, New Jersey, Arizona, and Los Angeles.
