Julián Quiñones scores debut goal for Al-Qadsiah in Champions League win
Mexican striker Julián Quiñones scored his first goal in the AFC Champions League, leading his Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah to a 2-1 victory over Al-Wasl of the United Arab Emirates.
In the 57th minute, Quiñones connected with a header following a cross from Christopher Bonsu Baah to open the scoring. Mateo Retegui later added a second goal for Al-Qadsiah. Despite a late goal by Al-Wasl's Leandro Spadacio, the Saudi side secured the win at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium.
Quiñones, who was recently nominated for the Ballon d'Or, has recorded 66 goals and 12 to 13 assists in 77 official appearances for Al-Qadsiah. He is one of the few Mexican players to score in this continental competition, following in the footsteps of Jared Borgetti.
Beyond his club performance, Quiñones has maintained a strong connection to Mexico, recently celebrating Mexican Independence Day on social media. His recent form, including scoring four goals during the 2026 World Cup, continues to position him as a key figure for the Mexican national team under new leadership.
