Julián Vega faces political controversy in Mariano Roque Alonso
Julián Vega, a Colorado Party candidate for mayor of Mariano Roque Alonso, is facing allegations regarding the use of donated air conditioning units. In a video recorded during a conciliation hearing, a citizen accused Vega of using equipment intended for the Public Ministry for political campaigning ahead of the October 4 municipal elections. Vega denied using donated items for proselytism.
Simultaneously, Deputy Johana Vega, Julián Vega’s sister, has drawn criticism following a confrontation with a local fish vendor, Perla Oviedo. The dispute arose after Oviedo refused to display a campaign sticker. The incident has caused friction within the Colorado Party, with some leaders accusing Johana Vega of authoritarian leadership.
In response to the growing controversy and internal party fragmentation, Julián Vega has attempted to distance himself from his sister’s conduct and is seeking support from high-ranking party figures, including ANR President Horacio Cartes, to bolster his candidacy.
