Julio Abalde retires as Government Sub-delegate in A Coruña

Julio Abalde has retired from his position as the Government Sub-delegate in A Coruña. Reflecting on a tenure he described as “short but very intense,” Abalde emphasized his focus on territorial presence rather than office-based work. He highlighted the industrial future of Ferrolterra, noting that the F-110 frigate program and F-100 renewals are expected to bring 8.5 billion euros in funding and sustained work through 2034. He also noted the successful management of security during major events, such as the August 12 eclipse and various large-scale concerts.

In Castilla y León, Vice President Isabel Blanco met with Telefónica executives to discuss technological collaboration regarding emergency services and demographic challenges. The discussions focused on using 5G, AI, and IoT to modernize communications and infrastructure. Key initiatives include the “Castilla y León: Smart Rural Territory” project and a proposed Digital Emergency Model designed to improve prevention and coordination during disasters through advanced connectivity.
