Julio Anativia resigns as Biobío Presidential Delegate

Julio Anativia has resigned from his position as the Presidential Delegate of the Biobío region in Chile. The resignation was accepted by President José Antonio Kast following allegations of domestic violence filed by Anativia’s spouse.

Anativia stated that his departure was voluntary and intended to allow him to focus on his legal defense and clear his name. He denied the allegations of domestic violence, claiming instead that he has been a victim of extortion, threats, and aggression. He revealed that he had filed two criminal complaints with the investigative police in August regarding these matters.

In addition to his resignation from the regional delegation, Anativia has also resigned from the Renovación Nacional (RN) political party, criticizing the party's regional leadership for allegedly involving his private life in political maneuvers. Juan Pablo Mellado, the provincial delegate of Biobío, will serve as the acting regional delegate.
