Julio Casares' defense loses court challenges in club investigation

The Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP) has rejected two legal requests made by the defense of Julio Casares, the former president of São Paulo FC. The requests were filed within the context of investigations into alleged financial and contractual irregularities during his tenure at the club.

One of the rejected motions sought to allow Casares' legal team to participate in witness testimonies alongside the Civil Police delegate and prosecutors. The second request, a Habeas Corpus petition, challenged the eligibility of the prosecutors involved, claiming they had not been properly appointed by the Public Ministry of São Paulo.

The court ruled that the prosecutors are authorized to work with the Civil Police on the investigation and stated that the defense will only be permitted to participate in the next phase of the proceedings.
