Casares, investigated for alleged mismanagement, irregular financial activities, and a suspected scheme involving unauthorized use of Morumbi suite tickets, claims his right to a fair defense was denied. His lawyer Bruno Borragine argued that Casares was denied access to essential documents, describing the process as a “process of exception.”

The Ethics Commission will now have five days to issue a verdict that could lead to a formal vote on Casares’ expulsion. Current club president Harry Massis, who succeeded Casares after his January 2026 resignation as president, will oversee the upcoming club presidential election at the end of the year. Parallel investigations by the Ministério Público and the São Paulo Civil Police continue regarding alleged embezzlement and money‑laundering related to the club’s finances.
