Julio Enrique sentenced to 7 years for vehicle robbery in Irapuato
A court in Irapuato, Guanajuato sentenced Julio Enrique to seven years and nine months in prison for a violent vehicle robbery committed on 27 January 2024. The suspect stole a pickup, cash and a cellphone in the El Cantador neighborhood before fleeing toward Silao. Police tracked the vehicle via a 911 emergency system, intercepted the suspect in Silao, and pursued him after he ignored orders to stop, culminating in a crash at a shopping‑center parking lot. Enrique abandoned the vehicle, stole a bicycle, and was captured on foot along with an accomplice.
The investigation, conducted by the state prosecutor’s office and security agencies, gathered forensic evidence, witness testimony and other documentation that led to a conviction. The court imposed the prison term, a monetary fine, and denied any sentence‑reduction benefits. The stolen vehicle was recovered, and the victim retains the right to claim restitution during the execution of the sentence.
