Julio Velasco calls for fan support and discusses sports invincibility

Julio Velasco, the head coach of the Italian women's national volleyball team, has called for constructive support from fans rather than criticism during difficult periods. Speaking at the Trento Sport Festival, Velasco emphasized that fans should act as supporters rather than judges, citing the English football culture as an example where supporters continue to cheer even when a team is losing.

Velasco also addressed the concept of invincibility in sports, stating that it is an unattainable ideal that can be detrimental to young athletes. He noted that true passion in sports stems from uncertainty and that even dominant figures like Michael Jordan and Roger Federer experienced significant defeats. Regarding the current landscape of tennis, he predicted an increasing cycle of alternating winners, mentioning Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz as current leaders while noting that new contenders will inevitably emerge.
