Julius Malema pledges to end municipal nepotism and mining inequality

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has pledged to eliminate nepotism in municipal recruitment if his party wins the upcoming elections on November 4. During a campaign rally in Thembisa, Malema criticized the African National Congress (ANC) for hiring only its own members, promising instead that jobs would be distributed through an open process to local residents.

Malema also proposed exempting indigent households and South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries from paying municipal rates, electricity, and water charges.

In a separate address at Letlhabile Stadium in Madibeng, Malema targeted mining businessman Solomon “MySol” Soka Madibela. Malema warned that under an EFF government, mining wealth would be redirected to serve local communities rather than a select few, asserting that he is not intimidated by the influence of wealthy individuals in the North West province.
