Julius Randle joins Brooklyn Nets after tenure with Knicks and Timberwolves

Julius Randle has returned to New York, joining the Brooklyn Nets following a stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Randle previously spent five seasons with the New York Knicks, where he played a central role in the team's transformation into a contender under coach Tom Thibodeau. During his tenure with the Knicks, Randle earned All-Star and All-NBA honors, notably following a breakout 2020-21 season.

In October 2024, the Knicks traded Randle to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal for Karl-Anthony Towns. After one season in Minnesota, the Timberwolves moved Randle to the Brooklyn Nets in a salary dump transaction that facilitated their acquisition of LaMelo Ball. Randle joins a rebuilding Nets roster that includes Michael Porter Jr., Mikel Brown Jr., and Egor Demin.
