July Marano Crowned Italian Artistic Gymnastics Champion
Sicilian gymnast July Marano, aged 17, won the absolute women's title at the Italian Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Meda, Lombardy. She posted a combined score of 106.700 points – 52.450 on the first day and 54.250 on the second – to secure the crown.
Marano edged out defending champion Giulia Perotti of Libertas Ginnastica Vercelli, who finished second with 105.200 points, and Anthea Sisio of Aiace Ginnastica, who claimed bronze with 105.150 points. The victory marks the 86th overall champion in a competition that began in 1937. Representing Ginnastica Civitavecchia, Marano is expected to be selected for the European Championships in Zagreb later in August.
