Jumbo to phase out La Place products from supermarket shelves
Jumbo supermarket chain has announced plans to phase out La Place branded products from its stores over the medium term. The decision will impact several dozen items, including coffee beans, whipped cream, sausage rolls, and premium deli meats such as pastrami and truffle salami.
Jumbo intends to use the shelf space previously occupied by La Place products to expand its own private-label brands. While the transition will occur gradually and no specific end date has been set, the change will affect multiple locations, including seven Jumbo branches in Helmond.
Jumbo acquired the La Place restaurant chain in 2016 following the bankruptcy of V&D. Although La Place was spun off as an independent company in 2024, Jumbo remains a co-owner alongside the catering company Vermaat Groep. A spokesperson for La Place stated that the brand views the assortment as an important addition to its mission and is currently working on how to shape future availability and potential partnerships.
