Jump Trading expands Hong Kong presence amid regional growth

Jump Trading is expanding its presence in Hong Kong, increasing its footprint at the International Finance Centre (IFC) building. This move is part of a broader trend of major proprietary trading firms doubling down on the city as a central Asian financial hub.

In addition to Jump Trading, other firms such as Jane Street and IMC Trading are also scaling up operations in Hong Kong. Jane Street has reportedly expanded its local presence to over 110,000 square feet across six floors.

Jump Trading is specifically focusing on building a statistical arbitrage trading team centered on low- and mid-frequency strategies. The firm is actively recruiting talent with STEM backgrounds and expertise in quantitative research and machine learning, led by Zoey Zhao, a former Citadel Securities employee. The expansion emphasizes the importance of low-latency connectivity and deep liquidity reserves in the region.
