Jun Hamamura concludes 52-year MBS Radio program

Jun Hamamura, a prominent radio personality and film critic, concluded his long-running MBS Radio program, ‘Arigato Hamamura desu’, with its final broadcast on the 26th. The program, which began in April 1974, spanned over 52 years of broadcasting history.

During the final two-hour and 40-minute episode, Hamamura maintained his characteristic composure. He reflected on his career, noting that while much remained unchanged over five decades, he had experienced health challenges, including surgery for colon cancer, which led to some absences in the past year. The broadcast featured guest Kiyoshi Nishikawa and included a segment where Hamamura provided an emotional review of the 1981 film ‘Otoko wa Tsurai yo: Naniwa no Koi no Torajiro’.

The program's conclusion drew numerous messages of gratitude from listeners via social media and traditional correspondence, marking the end of a significant era in Kansai broadcasting.
