Juncal Cepeda shares life with brittle bone disease and accessibility challenges

Juncal Cepeda, a 39-year-old civil servant from Irun, Spain, is sharing her personal journey living with osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare condition commonly known as brittle bone disease. Despite the extreme fragility of her bones, Cepeda has found physical and mental benefits through swimming, a practice she has pursued regularly since 2021 after overcoming an initial fear of water.

Cepeda also highlights the significant daily challenges faced by individuals with reduced mobility. She notes frequent barriers in public infrastructure, such as malfunctioning elevators at Euskotren stations and broken access ramps on buses, which can turn routine travel into a difficult or hostile experience.
