Jundiaí authorities seek family of man who died after inhaling steel wool

The Medical Legal Institute (IML) is seeking the family of 45-year-old Fábio Alves Brum, who died at a health unit in Jundiaí, São Paulo. Brum, who was experiencing homelessness, was admitted to the Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA) after reporting respiratory distress.

Medical staff reported that the patient claimed to have fallen ill after smoking crack cocaine with steel wool. X-rays confirmed pulmonary congestion. Despite being intubated, Brum did not survive. His body has been sent to the IML for necropsy and identification.
