June housing market shows buyer advantage in Florida and New Zealand
In June, home sales in Florida’s Sarasota and Manatee counties rose sharply, with single‑family transactions up 15.2% and 26.2% year‑over‑year respectively. Median single‑family prices reached about $492,000 in Sarasota and $490,000 in Manatee, while active listings fell 27% and 15% in the two counties. Condo sales increased 25.5% in Sarasota despite a drop in median condo price.
In New Zealand, overall residential sales were up 2% YoY, and the number of property dropouts fell 13%, indicating sellers are pricing more realistically. However, the REINZ House Price Index slipped 0.9% month‑over‑month and 0.8% YoY. Listing inventory grew 7.3% to roughly 35,000 homes, with the over‑hang of properties unsold for over a month rising 8.3% to 27,000. New listings rose 2.6%, suggesting continued seller activity amid a challenging market.
