Jung Chung-rae criticizes Democratic Party over proxy voting expulsion

Jung Chung-rae, a candidate for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, has criticized the party's election management committee regarding allegations of proxy voting in Suncheon. Jung argued that the committee's decision to move for the expulsion of party member Jeong Dal-seong was unjust because the individual was not given an opportunity to explain his actions, whereas members of the National Assembly were granted such opportunities.

Jung contended that the actions in question were not proxy voting but rather guidance on voting methods, noting that the individual's mother testified to having cast the vote herself. He described the decision to seek expulsion without a proper explanation process as a “political death sentence” and stated he intends to address this issue regardless of the ongoing party convention.
