Jung-hoo Lee faces scrutiny over consistency and trade rumors

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung-hoo Lee has completed his third Major League season with mixed results. While he achieved career highs in home runs (10) and RBIs (57), MLB.com and other analysts noted a significant decline in performance during the second half of the season, with his batting average dropping from 0.302 before the All-Star break to 0.236 afterward.

Despite his statistical improvements in certain areas, Lee's high salary—projected to reach $23 million by 2027—presents a challenge for potential trades. While the Giants possess a surplus of outfield talent, his contract and upcoming opt-out eligibility may make him difficult to move. However, Lee remains a significant asset for the franchise's popularity, ranking first in team jersey sales and providing a gateway to the South Korean market.

Giants manager Tony Bellotti noted that Lee has improved in approximately 15 specific areas, including strength and defensive play near the fences. Lee himself described the season as a “rollercoaster” and emphasized that maintaining consistency will be his primary focus for the upcoming year.
